On 27 June 2022, the Federal Ministry of Digitalisation and Transport (BMDV) published the revised "Common Principles of the Federal Government and the Länder for the Operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles" with the Notices to Airmen (NfL) 2022-1-2554 and repealed the previous NfL 1-1163-17.

The "Common Principles" contain statements on the objectives, applicability and responsibility of the aviation authorities. Furthermore, definitions are made supplementary to the European UAS aviation law. In future, all German aviation authorities will use uniform application forms.
